Holly and Kelly: Our hearts are heavy once again today. We have just learned of the death of a Berea College student, a sophomore. The details are not known but suicide is suspected. We did not personally know this student, but, seeing as Berea is a small community, we are certain that there are those we do know that are feeling the ache and pain of losing a fellow student and friend.
This is why we emphasize on speaking words of love over hate. Everyone is almost always fighting some sort of internalized battle. We never know what one another is going through. We ought to be reaching out to one another, smiling and laughing with those we are close to, and bridging the societal and economic gaps that threaten to tear us apart. Kelly and I are doing our best to do just that.
We are praying for our beloved Berea College community today and ask that you would do the same.
